Dr. Alison Elizabeth Lloyd, BA, PhD

Biography

 

Dr. Alison E. Lloyd was appointed Associate Provost (Institutional Data and Research) with effect from 15 May 2023. With over 20 years of experience in higher education and management consulting, Dr. Lloyd has an established track record in data analytics and institutional research expertise. She leads HKUST’s data and analytics efforts to promote greater data-informed decision-making to support the University’s strategic goals. Dr. Lloyd collaborates with external stakeholders, including the University Grants Committee, on several key planning and accountability initiatives, and oversees statutory statistical exercises to ensure alignment with sector-wide goals and robust reporting.  Since late 2023, she serves as the University’s Risk Officer, managing risks to ensure institutional stability. Working closely with the Provost, she shapes faculty affairs strategies and leads digital transformation efforts, including organizational design, business process improvement, and the implementation of key data and digital systems to enhance operational efficiency and institutional innovation.

Previously, Dr. Lloyd was Associate Vice President (Institutional Research and Strategic Planning) at Hong Kong Baptist University, where she advanced evidence-based decision-making through analytics. She also spent 14 years at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, serving as Director of International Affairs and Institutional Research, strengthening global partnerships and data-driven planning.

Before academia, Dr. Lloyd worked in management consulting, focusing on strategy, process improvement, and change management for organizations in the Asia Pacific. She currently serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Giordano International Limited (0709: HK) and as a Board Director of a social enterprise promoting multicultural education.
