The "Asian Young Scientist (AYS) Fellowship Annual Conference 2025" was held in HKU, where HKUST VPRD Prof. Tim CHENG, also Chair of 2025 Steering Committee for the AYS Fellowship, delivered an opening speech.

An article on the world's first self-evolving multimodal world model system, World-Omniscient World Model, which was jointly developed by HKUST, the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, and Peking University.

A research team led by LIFS/CBE Assoc. Prof. WANG Jiguang has discovered a previously overlooked subtype of brain tumor termed IME IDH-mutant astrocytoma. In addition, the team has developed an AI framework to help doctors identify this subtype accurately, enabling more personalized patient care.

The team led by CSE Chair Prof. JIA Jiaya has released the AI image editing and generation model DreamOmni2. Open-sourced just two weeks ago, the model has gained 1.6k stars on GitHub.

Co-organized by HKUST, Future Science Awards Foundation and Hong Kong Academy of Sciences, the "Science and Technology Forum", the opening event of the 2025 Future Science Prize Week, was held on October 22. A research team, led by CSE/CBE Asst. Prof. CHEN Hao, has developed SmartPath, a comprehensive AI system designed to transform the entire pathology workflow for cancer care.

In an exclusive interview, SBM Acting Dean and ISOM Chair Prof. HUI Kai-Lung stated that HK needs to strike a balance between stablecoin development and regulation, emphasizing the importance of network security. He highlighted also SBM's stablecoin-related research, curriculum and admission policies.

KHOSLA, Chancellor of the University of California San Diego (Doctor of Engineering honoris causa), Prof. Roger David KORNBERG, Nobel laureate in Chemistry (Doctor of Science honoris causa), Mr. LIU Cixin, Hugo-winning author (Doctor of Humanities honoris causa), Prof. Sir Christopher PISSARIDES, Nobel laureate in Economic Sciences (Doctor of Social Sciences honoris causa), and Mr. Stephen A. SCHWARZMAN, Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of Blackstone (Doctor of Business Administration honoris causa).
