HKUST Strengthens Research Collaborations with The Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) warmly welcomed a delegation from The Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT) on February 13. The delegation, led by Dr. Andreas GÖTHENBERG, Executive Director of STINT, and Dr. Erik FORSBERG, STINT’s Representative in APAC, was received by Prof. Tim CHENG, HKUST Vice-President for Research and Development.
The meeting facilitated meaningful exchanges on potential research collaborations and strategic talent development initiatives within the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Prof. Cheng highlighted Hong Kong’s distinctive position in the GBA, as well as HKUST’s pioneering role as Hong Kong’s first research-intensive university, emphasizing its commitment to global academic engagement and scientific advancement.
The delegation introduced various impactful programs supported by the Swedish Government, notably the STINT International Postdoc Programme. This program offers early-career researchers the opportunity to undertake postdoctoral projects abroad or in Sweden, fostering international academic mobility and strengthening global research networks.
HKUST aspires to foster cross-border academic research excellence and cultivate globally engaged talents in science and technology.
