HKUST Receives Book Donation from Zhejiang University (Chinese version only)
香港科技大學(科大) 獲浙江大學贈送「中國歷代繪畫大系」,贈書儀式於3月12日上午在科大鍾士元校董會議事廳舉行。在浙江省委常委、宣傳部部長趙承,浙江省委宣傳部副部長范慶瑜,浙江省委宣傳部部務會議成員、省政府新聞辦新聞發言人駱莉莉,科大署理校長郭毅可教授,科大人文及社會科學院署理院長康文林教授、科大圖書館館長黃家慧博士等嘉賓的共同見證下,浙江大學黨委副書記朱慧向科大副校長(大學拓展)汪揚教授贈書。
由浙江大學、浙江省文物局編纂出版的「中國歷代繪畫大系」工程,自2005年啟動後的18年間於世界範圍內搜集並拍攝中國古代的繪畫成果,致力實現古代藝術圖像的永久性留存與保護。據統計,該工程共收錄海內外263家文博機構的紙、絹(含帛、綾)、麻等材質的中國繪畫藏品12405件(套)。其中國內藏品9155件(套)、國外藏品3250件(套),涵蓋了絕大部分傳世的「國寶」級繪畫珍品,橫跨先秦、唐、宋、元、明、清的中國古代繪畫史。
作為浙江與香港人文交流、高校合作的見證,此次「中國歷代繪畫大系」贈書活動不僅讓科大師生與香港民眾進一步深入瞭解中國古代歷史、中華文化與藝術,也進一步推動浙江大學與科大於藝術與科學領域的交流和合作。
贈書儀式結束後,出席活動的嘉賓參觀了李兆基圖書館並參觀「地圖中國五百年的意象演化」展覽。

HKUST Strengthens Partnership with South China University of Technology
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have entered into the first undergraduate student exchange agreement with South China University of Technology (SCUT) on February 28, aiming to enhance students' understanding of the Greater Bay Area.
HKUST Council Chairman Harry SHUM and President Nancy IP warmly welcomed SCUT Party Secretary Prof. ZHANG Xichun and his delegation for insightful discussions. As leading technology universities, HKUST and SCUT play crucial roles in supporting the development of higher education in the Greater Bay Area and the country. Both institutions are committed to learning from each other and exploring innovative educational approaches, with the shared goal of establishing the Greater Bay Area as a global hub for innovation.

HKUST Connects with Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Hong Kong
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted Consul General Yul EDISON of the Republic of Indonesia for his inaugural visit to campus on February 28.
Marking a new chapter in collaboration, CG Edison engaged in fruitful discussions with HKUST leadership, including Vice President for Institutional Advancement Prof. WANG Yang, Associate Vice-President (Global Engagement & Communications) Ms. Daisy CHAN, Director of Undergraduate Recruitment & Admissions Prof. Emily NASON, and Head of Global Engagement and Greater China Affairs Ms. Yvonne LI. The conversation centered around strategies to enhance student mobility and the available resources for Indonesian students studying in HKUST, as well as for local students participating in cultural programs.

HKUST Forges Deeper Ties with University of Waterloo on Academic and Research Innovation
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) welcomed a delegation from the University of Waterloo on February 22, led by President Vivek GOEL, to strengthen collaboration between the two long-standing partners.
HKUST and University of Waterloo shared a common vision of leveraging interdisciplinary research and technological advancements to drive positive change globally. During insightful discussions, the universities explored new pathways to merge academic strengths and spark innovation.
To further enhance the flourishing partnership, HKUST Vice-President for Institutional Advancement Prof. WANG Yang and University of Waterloo President Prof. Goel signed a renewed agreement on academic and research exchange.

HKUST Connects with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to China for Student Diversity
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) welcomed H.E. Khalil HASHMI, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to China, on February 22 to explore new initiatives to attract Pakistani students to HKUST.
HKUST Acting Head of Public Policy Prof. Naubahar SHARIF and Director of Undergraduate Recruitment & Admissions Prof. Emily NASON engaged in fruitful discussions with the delegation. Conversations centered on initiatives to attract Pakistani students, reinforcing our dedication to fostering global diversity.
The delegation later met with current Pakistani students to learn about their campus life at HKUST. They also toured HKUST’s iconic Shaw Auditorium, an art and cultural landmark furthering students’ whole-person development.

President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Prof. Nancy IP was among the esteemed global leaders and personalities attending the 2024 World Economic Forum in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland to address some of the most substantive issues facing our world today. Prof. Ip added her unique perspective to vibrant discussions on healthy aging, climate change, the integral role of universities in fostering advancements in sustainability, and AI research and education.

Building Bridges of Collaboration with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) was honored to welcome H.E. Hussain bin Ibrahim Al HAMMADI, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to China, and his delegation to the campus on January 22.
The Ambassador and his delegation were warmly received by Prof. Nancy IP, President of HKUST, as they engaged in a dynamic meeting led by Provost Prof. GUO Yike. The discussion explored a wide range of opportunities to enhance collaboration and foster stronger bonds between the UAE and HKUST.
The delegation then witnessed firsthand the pioneering research and state-of-the-art facilities at the Cheng Kar-Shun Robotics Institute and the Aerodynamics and Acoustics Facility, guided by our Faculty experts Prof. ZHANG Fumin and Prof. ZHANG Xin respectively.

HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP to Attend “Winter Davos”
Prof. Nancy IP, President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is set to attend the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Switzerland from January 17 to 19, 2024. As the only university head from Hong Kong at the "Winter Davos", she will share insights with esteemed leaders from around the world on various critical international issues, including aging population and climate change.
Convening under the theme “Rebuilding Trust”, the Annual Meeting 2024 will bring together over 2,800 distinguished global leaders from 120 countries, including LI Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China; Emmanuel MACRON, French President; Ursula von der LEYEN, President of the European Commission; and Antony John BLINKEN, US Secretary of State.
