HKUST Proposes Amending HKUST Ordinance to Enhance Senior Management Structure
To support Hong Kong’s development into a global innovation and technology (I&T) hub and maximize opportunities arising from relevant I&T policies, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is proposing to enhance its senior management structure by relaxing a cap on the number of Vice-Presidents (VPs) appointable by the University Council, so the expanded leadership could oversee new education and research initiatives.   The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Amendment) Bill 2023 (“the Amendment Bill”) has been introduced to the Legislative Council for First and Second Reading on 31 May 2023, pending legislators’ deliberation.
