Andrew LIAO Cheung-Sing has been reappointed as Chairman of the University Court by Mr. John LEE Ka-Chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Chancellor of HKUST. The appointment, effective from March 6, 2026, is for a term of three years. Under Dr. Liao's leadership, the Court will continue to offer valuable insights for the University's development and support its fundraising efforts to strengthen HKUST's international influence and academic leadership.

HKUST Provost Prof. GUO Yike Named "Leader of the Year 2024"
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Provost Prof. Yike GUO has been named "Leader of the Year 2024" in the Education/Professional/Technology and Innovation category from Sing Tao News Corporation for his transformative contributions to education and technological innovation in Hong Kong.
The award ceremony, held last Friday, was graced by Mr. Paul CHAN, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government, as the Guest of Honor. The event celebrated outstanding leaders across five categories for their significant contributions to Hong Kong’s development.

HKUST Ranks Among World’s Top 20 and Hong Kong #1 in THE Impact Rankings
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) ranked 19th globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025, retaining its position as Hong Kong and Mainland China’s top institution for the second consecutive year.
The rankings, which assessed 2,500 universities, recognize institutions advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). HKUST excelled in SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 15 (Life on Land), reflecting its leadership in innovating resilient infrastructure and industries, promoting urban sustainability and promoting terrestrial ecosystem conservation.
