HKUST-Nurtured Healthtech Startups PanopticAI and SmartCare Partner with Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong to Pioneer AI-Driven Patient Care Solutions
Two healthtech innovators nurtured by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) - PanopticAI Limited (PanopticAI) and SmartCare Technology Co Limited (SmartCare), have entered a landmark collaboration with Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong (Gleneagles). Witnessed by Prof. Nancy IP, President of HKUST; Dr. Prem Kumar NAIR, Group Chief Executive Officer of IHH Healthcare; and Dr. Patrick LAU, Deputy Executive Director of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the tripartite collaboration agreement signing marks a strategic effort to deploy AI-powered smart clinic solutions at Gleneagles MediCentre, set to launch in late 2025. The clatter of dim sum carts filled a transformed teahouse at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today, as over 100 participants, including seniors with swallowing difficulties and their families, savored a nostalgic Yum Cha experience on campus. Led by HKUST senior management and distinguished guests, students and staff volunteers served delicate soft-textured and fresh options dim sum on traditional carts, while two HKUST startups showcased how technology could enhance the quality of life for the elderly.

香港科技大學(科大)今年透過「學生運動員學習支援及入學計劃」(SALSA)計劃,取錄了超過11名傑出香港運動員,人數創歷年來最高。科大今日舉辦歡迎典禮,特別邀請到一眾傑出學生運動員新生、香港體育學院代表、運動員的教練、中學校長、老師及家人等出席,一同慶祝各精英運動員即將展開人生新一頁,並祝願他們在學業和運動上的發展都能再創高峰。

HKUST Achieves Record-Breaking Results at 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) achieved a record-breaking success at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva concluding today. Thirty-seven HKUST teams won a total of 38 awards, including two special grand prizes, 22 Gold Medals (of which seven received Congratulations of the Jury), and multiple Silver and Bronze Medals, showcasing the University’s outstanding performance across different fields including life and health technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) and data science, advanced manufacturing, new energy technologies and aerospace engineering. HKUST outshone other local universities and smashed its own record with this extraordinary haul of awards, reaffirming its status as a powerhouse of creativity and invention.

HKUST Hosts Health Day to Showcase MedTech and Build a Healthy Community (Chinese Version Only)
醫療科技進步有助提升大眾生活質素,但個人身體健康則有賴良好生活習慣。有見及此,香港科技大學(科大)今日(4月11日)舉辦的第三屆同樂日,特別以運動和健康為主題,於校園內設置多個以滑雪、賽車、單車、籃球及拳撃等活動攤位,為現場逾千名科大師生、校友、中小學生和公眾人士,進行體能與智力的大考驗。
除攤位遊戲外,科大亦設置展覽,介紹多個由科大團隊研發的最新醫療科技,涵蓋睡眠測試、檢測癌症細胞成像技術、預防青光眼裝置、視網膜疾病藥物導入及AI牙齒檢測技術。其中科大老齡科學研究中心更提供兩部VR健身單車機,結合虛擬街景,讓參加者由科大踩單車「出發」遊歷九龍市區。此設備平日設置於長者復康中心,旨在提升長者的運動能力及認知能力。
科大現正申請建立香港第三間醫學院,多位同學與現場參與者於校園內一幅標示著「Shaping the Future of Medicine(塑造醫學未來發展)」的大型馬賽克壁畫上,踴躍張貼打氣字句,齊齊「集氣」支持科大推動醫學創新。

HKUST Develops Multiple Smart Devices to Advance Medical Innovation
A research team at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has developed three innovative smart medical devices for health monitoring, surgical assistance and rehabilitation. Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with robotics technology, the devices seek to help doctors address challenges in treatment and diagnostics, improve medical procedures and enhance efficiency. Led by Associate Prof. SHEN Yajing from the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, the team is actively collaborating with public and private institutions, industry stakeholders and investors to promote the translation and clinical application of the three breakthroughs below.
