HKUST Strengthens Ties on Academic Research with UC Davis
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology hosted Dr. Mary CROUGHAN, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor of the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) on April 23.
HKUST Provost Prof. GUO Yike, Associate Provost for Institutional Data and Research Dr. Alison LLOYD, and Prof. LAW Kam Tuen, Associate Dean of Science for Research and Graduate Studies engaged in fruitful discussions with Dr. Croughan on advancing academic research and enhancing collaborative efforts between the two institutions.
As pioneering research universities at the forefront of discovery, HKUST and UC Davis are energized to pursue more shared endeavors to drive innovation and academic excellence.

HKUST President Leads Delegation to UAE Securing Partnerships on Research, Tech Transfer and Talent Development
A high-level delegation from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) concluded a successful trip to Abu Dhabi and Dubai last week. Led by HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP, the delegation established valuable ties and partnerships with prominent institutions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to foster education, research, and innovation.
The visit took place during the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road (B&R) initiative when both the Hong Kong government and HKUST had pledged to enhance cooperation in areas such as innovation and technology, and investment and infrastructure development with key B&R members such as the UAE. This is the first visit from Hong Kong’s higher education sector following Hong Kong Chief Executive John LEE’s delegation to the region last year.

HKUST Achieves New Records at 49th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has made remarkable progress at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, showcasing outstanding achievements and surpassing previous records with 36 teams winning a total of 36 awards. These include the Prize of the Chinese Delegation for Invention and Innovation, four Gold Medals with Congratulations of the Jury, and multiple Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals.

HKUST Expands Partnership Network with British Higher Education Institution
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) welcomed a delegation from the University of Liverpool, represented by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tim JONES and Dean of Management School Prof. Julia BALOGUN, to the campus on April 16.
The delegation engaged in a productive meeting with HKUST Provost Prof. GUO Yike, Senior Associate Dean of the School of Business & Management Prof. HUI Kai-Lung and Head of Global Engagement and Greater China Affairs Ms. Yvonne LI. The discussion centered on collaboration in research and student exchange programs.
Both institutions share common visions of integrating sustainability and entrepreneurship into the interdisciplinary academic programs and research projects.
The delegation then visited HKUST's state-of-the-art facilities, including the Lee Shau Kee Library and Shaw Auditorium, to explore the advanced facilities for students’ whole-person development.

HKGAI Debuts Cutting Edge AI Projects at InnoEx 2024
The Hong Kong Generative AI R&D Center (HKGAI), a joint-university collaborative venture, led by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), announced today an array of its AI projects covering applications in various areas at InnoEx 2024. With funding from the HKSAR government’s InnoHK initiative, HKGAI has established eight projects on AI aimed at developing foundation models tailored for applications in various industries including legal, medical and creative fields in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA).Backed by its independently developed model, HKGAI showcases for the first time ten generative AI services and applications at the InnoEx 2024 to allow expo-goers to experience firsthand:

HKUST Hoodie Design Competition Unleashes Creativity on HKUST Fun Day 2.0
一場充滿時裝設計創意的盛宴今日卻在你意想不到的香港科技大學(科大)校園上演﹗作為備受矚目的科大衛衣(Hoodie)設計大賽決賽,六位科大模特兒身穿六項衛衣設計作品,青春活潑地登上時裝天橋展現科大社群獨特的創作意念。早前開展的科大衛衣(Hoodie)設計大賽獲學生及教職員熱烈參與,合共徵集逾百項參賽作品,而決賽天橋秀更為今日第二屆「Timeout HKUST」活動增添一道亮麗風景線。
活動現場氣氛熱烈,最後由科大師生和評審團一同選出「最佳衛衣設計」及「最佳模特兒」,並由校長葉玉如教授、大學評議會主席兼校董會成員曾建中先生和協理副校長(環球事務及傳訊)陳佩珠女士頒獎。此外工作時工作、學習時學習、行樂時行樂,再度貫徹今年的「Timeout HKUST」活動,一眾大學管理層在內的數百名師生和校友,一起停一停 、 玩一玩,體驗「古怪冰壺」、「一擊即中」、「節拍變奏」、「乒乓灌籃」等攤位遊戲,以及體驗由科大學生輔導中心和科大深度遊帶來的精彩活動。
